BPF Scholarship

Below is The Beanie Paints Foundation scholarship instructions for the application. If your student is selected, the event auction must be held within one year of being a selected nominee. The Nominator must promote the auction for the selected student. The auction will be housed on our website or at a live event. The student will receive up to 75% of the auction proceeds to assist with educational expenses.  Opening bid is requested to be no less than $1000.00.  Applications will be reviewed twice a year: Spring and Summer.  March 26th and July 28th each year.   The required qualifications are as follows:

 1.) 12th grade student currently enrolled in high school. Higher education students may also be considered under certain circumstances.

 2.) Minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.

3.) Minimum of one volunteer activity in community service over the past two years. Letter of verification must be provided from each community service.

 4.) Write and submit a 3000–5000-word essay about BIPOC Visual Arts and highlight an artist and how this scholarship will benefit you and why you should be selected.

Essay Suggestions

Here are some essay topics tailored for a visual artist applying for the Beanie Paints Foundation scholarship:

1. The Role of Art in Social Change: How can visual art be used to inspire social awareness and activism? Describe a piece of your work that embodies this purpose.

2. The Evolution of Your Artistic Journey: Trace your personal growth as a visual artist, highlighting important milestones and the influences that shaped your style.

3. The Impact of Culture on Your Art: Discuss how your cultural background has influenced your artistic vision and techniques. Include examples from your work that reflect this influence.

4. Art as a Form of Communication: How do you use visual art to communicate with your audience? Explain a specific artwork and its intended message.

5. Overcoming Challenges as an Artist: Describe challenges you have faced as an artist—financial, emotional, or societal—and how you have overcome them. What has this taught you about your creative practice?

6. The Intersection of Art and Technology: How has technology impacted your creative process or the art world in general? Explore the ways in which technology has both enabled and challenged traditional art forms.

7. Art in the Community: Discuss how visual art can benefit a community. Have you engaged in community art projects or contributed to public art? How did this experience influence you?

8. The Power of Color, Shape, and Symbolism in Your Work: Reflect on how you use color, shape, and symbolism in your artwork. How do these elements help to express your ideas?

9. The Future of Art: What role do you believe visual artists will play in the next decade? How do you see your work fitting into this future?

10. Why You Need the Scholarship: Explain why receiving the Beanie Paints Foundation scholarship is vital to your growth as an artist. What would it allow you to achieve that might otherwise be impossible?

11. Art and Personal Identity: How does your work reflect your personal identity? Discuss the relationship between your inner world and your creative output.

12. A Personal Artistic Project: Write about a recent project that deeply challenged or transformed your perspective as an artist. What inspired it, and what impact did it have on your audience?

13. Environmental Issues Through Art: Discuss how visual art can address environmental concerns. Have you created any pieces that convey an environmental message? How can art impact environmental awareness?

14. Art and Mental Health: How has creating art impacted your mental well-being? Explore the therapeutic aspects of visual art, both for you as the creator and for the viewer.

15. An Artist’s Responsibility: Do artists have a responsibility to address political or social issues? Share your perspective and describe any work you’ve done that reflects this responsibility.

Each of these topics is designed to allow you to showcase both your creative skills and your personal philosophy as an artist, helping the scholarship committee understand your unique vision and dedication to art. Please note you do not need to pursue a degree in the arts to apply.

5.) Provide a school faculty member recommendation.  

6.) Submit an official sealed transcript.

7.) Letter of acceptance to a University, College or trade school with an expected start date. 

8.) Entrants must be a legal resident of the United States. (Please provide proof) The applications MUST be completed entirely with all documents in order to be accepted.  Please email all requirements to, Beanie Paints Foundation. info@beaniepaintsfoundation.org   Funds will not be released until verification of acceptance and enrollment into a college/technical educational program is provided and the auction funds have been established from the painting. Funds will be released to the school and not the student.  The Beanie Paints Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization established in 2022.
